About Dr. Bernard Sirois
Dr. Bernie Sirois became a chiropractor because he was very interested in healthcare and helping people. He has a sister and father who went to chiropractors for different problems.
“I got sold on the philosophy of chiropractic after getting pieces of information from their doctor visits on what it was all about,” said Dr. Bernie. He fell in love with the philosophy and even went to school without ever having an adjustment.
The Appeal of Natural Healing
Dr. Bernie, a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, was drawn to helping people without using drugs or surgery. He believes that the biggest thing to remember is that the body was made with intelligence. “God created the body as a self-healing organism; our job is to try to make sure that can happen.” Dr. Bernie always aims to help people understand that’s a possibility.
“I have seen first-hand how the natural approach to healing has helped my own four children.” They’ve never had shots or taken medications. All four were born at home as well. He considers them to be way above average. Dr. Bernie and his wife Dr. Michelle live out their philosophy and it’s what they like to communicate to their patients.
Dr. Bernie also witnessed the remarkable transformation of one of his young patients who he saw while he was still a student. The 8-year-old patient had asthma but after a 6-month period of chiropractic care, the child was able to get off all medications. Dr. Bernie found it gratifying to not just learn about the benefits of chiropractic in a book, but to see someone experience results.
Overcoming Preconceived Notions
One of the biggest challenges of chiropractic for Dr. Bernie is educating people who believe that health comes in a bottle. According to Dr. Bernie, hardly anyone knows what chiropractic does. They have preconceived ideas that you’re only sick when you’re in pain. Or, they believe they are healthy when they don’t have pain or symptoms.
Outside the Office
When he’s not working, Dr. Bernie serves on the local school board and is president of the Dent County Community Foundation.
